The GCVA
does NOT GIVE ANYONE A Rating, THEY HAVE TO BE EARNED
ON THE SAND.
*GCVA
Ratings are comparable with other large outdoor volleyball organizations in the
U.S. Such as the California Beach
Volleyball Assn. (CBVA) or the Jersey Shore Volleyball Assn. (JSVBA). So a GCVA player whom has earned an
"A" rating should be equal to a CBVA or JSVBA "A" Player and thus be able to
compete at "A" tournaments anywhere in the US and feel comfortable
that he can compete at that level. GCVA
ratings are hard to earn, thus any rating earned should be thought of as a
worthy accomplishment.
I know that that is not much help when
competing in other organizations events in Texas due to the fact that a GCVA
player who has earned a "BB" rating may be able to win say a
"AA" event in a Bar in Austin.
GCVA ratings are more in line with National Standards and not local
"wishful thinking".
As a matter of fact this rating table was copied
from the CBVA in 1992 and I have made very little adjustments to the table
whereas the CBVA has relaxed their standards a tad (not listing minimums on
teams participating on ratings earned) but they still set the standard for
outdoor player ratings.
